Dr Ghada Karmi is a Palestinian doctor of medicine, graduating from University of Bristol in 1964, and between 1972-1979, she attained a PhD from London University in medieval Islamic medicine. Her writings on Palestine related issues have been published in various newspapers and magazines, including: The Guardian, The Nation and the Journal of Palestine Studies.
Dr Karmi is a fellow and lecturer at the Institute of Arab & Islamic studies at University of Exeter; an associate fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, and a visiting professor at London Metropolitan University. She is also vice-chair of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU).
In October 2007, Dr Karmi delivered the Edward Said Memorial lecture at the University of Adelaide, Australia.
